What is Synse?+

Is this an IoT platform?+
It's a box of sensors and a text message. So: no.
What's a head?+
A yellow-collared cap that clicks onto a pod's top and changes what it measures: temperature probes, leak rope, radar level, current clamps, contacts and pulses, Modbus, or vision. Swap it in seconds; every wired head is supervised, so a cut or unplugged lead reports itself instead of going silent.
Can it count people or track what customers do?+
It counts; it never identifies. The Vision head works everything out on the device and sends only numbers, over a radio physically too small to carry video even if someone wanted it to.
Do I buy the hardware?+
No. Synse owns every pod, head, and hub. One monthly price includes the equipment, batteries, repairs, and upgrades. Cancel anytime; a prepaid return label comes with the kit.
What does the $99 deposit get me?+
It reserves your kit and locks pilot pricing. Fully refundable any time before the kit ships. After shipping it becomes the equipment deposit, returned when the gear comes back.
How is it powered?+
One sealed USB-C on everything. Pods run 2+ years standalone, forever on any wall adapter, or off-grid on the Solar Charger. The Hub plugs into a wall, or powers itself on a pole with the Outdoor Power Kit.
Does it work with old equipment?+
Especially old equipment. Clamps go around existing wires, contacts land on floats and relays that are already there, and the Bridge head reads the 4–20 mA and Modbus instruments you already own. Nothing is cut, rewired, or replaced.
Do I need IT help to install it?+
No. The hub carries its own cellular (no Wi-Fi, no passwords, no port openings) and pods arrive pre-paired and labeled for each spot. If you'd rather not touch it at all, monitored service includes installation.
Will it ever tell me it can't help?+
Yes, and on purpose. Pressurized propane tanks, vehicles on the road, code-required safety alarms, anything that needs actual video: the designer will tell you no, tell you why, and offer the nearest thing it can honestly do.
